4 Costco Products I’m loving right now as a Registered Dietitian

Preparing for your next Costco run? Here are 4 products I can’t stop purchasing as a nutrition professional looking for healthy foods that have nutrition benefits and taste good too!

Edamame

These individual packs from Costco have been a big staple on my grocery list lately. In the on the go world we live in today, having snacks handy is key. One thing I bring into any nutrition pursuit is how is the environment around us set up? The more shelf stable, nutrient dense, grab and go snacks we have on hand, the easier it gets to prioritize nutrition even on the busiest days. I love these edamame packs for their convenience surely but notably the fiber and protein content. In just one pack there is 5 grams of fiber and 12 grams of plant based protein. I would throw this in my bag with a banana for energy sustaining carbs and be out the door!

Cranberry Fizz Poppi

Tis the season, the limited edition cranberry fizz is back at Costco. These will definitely be in my cart, and spoiler alert I may have already come home with a pack. These seasonal flavored drinks are a fun way to stay festive without a lot of additional added sugar only incorporating 3 total grams of added sugar per drink. These drinks also incorporate a bit of fiber, 3 grams to be exact. I recommend aiming to get fiber from food sources first and foremost when possible, but the small amount here is a nice round out to the day’s fiber totals. I love making seasonal mocktails with these drinks, and even adding in tart cherry juice for a nice pre-bed drink to wind down with!

Chobani Greek Yogurt Drinks

Choban yogurt drinks are one of my “buy everytime” items at costco. I often get the question “what is the best protein shake to buy” and these win by a landslide in comparison to other ready to drink protein drinks on the market. These yogurt drinks allow for protein on the go but the one up they provide? You get a convenient, drinkable whole foods source as you’re running out the door or jumping into the car. Additionally, these drinks contain probiotics that are beneficial for gut health too. I like to pair this with a carb source on the go like multigrain crackers or popcorn for a bit of additional fiber too and a filling, well rounded snack!

Seeds of Change Organic Quinoa and Brown Rice with Garlic & Lentils

This is a can’t miss item! I love these packs for quick dinners in a pinch. Need a side dish and short on time? Heating up one of these quinoa, lentil and rice packs takes only 90 seconds and packs of punch of health all in one. With 6 grams of fiber, 7 grams of plant based protein these packs provide a blood sugar balancing side to any main dish! I love to pair these with apple chicken sausage and frozen mixed vegetables for a quick and easy dinner in just minutes!
